SC-based Palmetto GBA Awarded Federal Railroad Medicare Contract
Columbia, S.C. – Palmetto GBA has been awarded the new Specialty Medicare Administrative Contractor contract to administer Medicare Part B Services for U.S. Railroad Retirement Board beneficiaries nationwide.
“This award is further evidence of the importance of our performance on the contracts entrusted to us by our customers,” said Joe Johnson, president of Palmetto GBA, which is based in Columbia. “This new Specialty Medicare Administrative Contractor contract replaces our current Title 18 Railroad Medicare contract, which we’ve held since 2000.”
Johnson said even as the incumbent on this contract, Palmetto GBA has some implementation activities to perform.
“We have already assembled the project team and started preliminary work on the implementation,” Johnson said. “It is extremely important that we smoothly and efficiently conduct this transition while maintaining all performance levels.”
According to Johnson, the transition will require no action by Railroad Retirement Board beneficiaries or the health care providers who serve them.
